The Maconnais<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Nestled between Tournus and Macon, le Maconnais extends over a zone approximately fifty km from north to south and fifteen km east to west.<\/p>\n

Here you\u2019ll discover a unique landscape marked as much by the variety of its rocks as the orientation of its hillsides, offering you large, vine-filled slopes. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The top of the Maconnais hillsides are dominated by leafy forests, perfect for a hike. Halfway up the slopes and up to 300 meters in altitude, vines have been planted and cultivated since the XII th century, constantly expanding. The valley offers a few prairies bordering the rivers.

LES GROTTES D’AZ\u00c9 (the Az\u00e9 caves)<\/strong><\/p>\n

a classified prehistoric site and one of the longest caverns in Burgundy.
Bear and cave lion skeletons have been discovered there.<\/p>\n

Guided tours available everyday from April 1st to September 30th <\/em><\/strong>
from 10am to 12pm, and 2pm to 7pm.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
